Old Jock is a fantastic beer, and one that combines a depth of flavour with an inviting ruby colour unsurpassed by any other from a Scottish brewery - it has to be one of the best-looking I've ever seen. The name aside, Old Jock is a great beer, as I expected Broughton. I discovered this brewery a long time back, though their excellent Black Douglas. Old Jock is their sweeter, almost Wee Heavy brew. It start with a strong nose, reminiscent of dark fruit or prunes, sweet, like dried fruit smells.

So I cracked it open and found myself drinking Old Jock Ale, Strong and Bold. When I think of Scottish beer, I think strong and full bodied, and I am not wrong with this brew.
